Adult Formation

Adult formation is the ongoing work of being shaped by the Holy Spirit into the likeness of Christ guided by Scripture, tradition, wisdom (reason), and prayer within the community of Christ’s body.

Within the Church

While Christ Church alternates adult formation classes and home parish group offerings throughout the year, formation takes place in our weekly participation in worship, sacrament, and praying the daily offices available in Book of Common Prayer. We are also formed by living in and out of the season rhythms of devotion that are part of the liturgical calendar. There are also many ways to serve and be formed by participating in the lay ministries of CCA. We each have a calling in Christ’s body.

What’s a Home Parish Group?

Home parish groups are multi-generational groups that meet for 1.5 - 2 hours within homes for prayer, hospitality, and fellowship. They meet one day a week during the three liturgical seasons of Advent (4 -5 weeks), Lent (6-7 weeks), and Trinity-tide (summer) (9-10 weeks). The group participants change each season with new sign-ups. Parishioners can participate by joining a group, leading or hosting a group. To lead or host, please click here.

Home parishes use the Book of Common Prayer (Evening Prayer, Compline, or Family Prayer) for prayer, and incorporate a parish-wide seasonal focus of devotion.

Formation Classes

Adults are invited to take advantage of each opportunity to delve deeper into the Anglican faith, Christ, and community. Classes are open to adults of all ages and teens.

Locations, times, and registrations will be available closer to the class offering.

Seasonal Devotions & Celebrations

Christ Church Anglican offers various seasonal devotional resources for children of all ages, adults, singles and families with which to delve deeper into liturgical seasons. There is usually something for everyone. These resources are shared during fun, church-wide resource days leading up to Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter. We also celebrate significant holy days as a wider community for celebration and fellowship. All of these opportunities and more are communicated through the CCA weekly newsletter.

Outside the Church

Beyond parish formational pathways, adults are commissioned every Sunday to go into the world and do the work of God’s people. Service and work is a foundational way in which we are to live like Christ and usher God’s Kingdom. This looks unique to each person in their vocational callings, areas of service, giving, interests and community involvement. We hope to equip each person for works of service in the world.
